The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are now open and will close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant should meet the following criteria:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who originates from a home that has a combined gross residence earnings that does not exceed R350 000 for each annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined family revenue will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open up to all South African citizens and permanent citizens from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 for each annum.
